BABES The DJ

BABES The DJ (Jason Vieira) has been a nightlife staple since 2012. They began their musical journey by editing show tracks and MC’ing dance parties while touring Australia with Sydney’s premier drag agency. In 2017 BABES moved to Brooklyn and transitioned their heels to headphones, keeping their passion for camp and music alive.

They started DJing in 2018 with a residency at “Double D’s: The Dirty Disco”, a weekly party they self-produced and solo DJed at multiple venues (@dds.dirtydisco). Currently they produce a bi-monthly immersive queer dance party called Diet Zhuzh (@dietzhuzh). Established in 2021, it quickly gained popularity for its creative uniqueness, satirical nostalgia, and diverse energy. BABES also has non-exclusive management with NYC Mon Amie Events (@mon.amie.events) & Non-Traditional Wedding DJs NYC - DJing various weddings, art shows and corporate gigs around the tri-state area. This varied experience has given them a talent for managing performances and teams, and playing to a wide array of dancers.

BABES considers themself an all-genre music lover. With strong roots in vocal dance, they will flip from disco, to happy house, sexy synth, Latin+international influences, underground dance, techno, classic pop, funk, R&B and more, depending on vibe, gig and audience. They look to DJs and musical icons to create their sound journeys and inventive transitions.

Their Portuguese heritage and love of fashion and nightlife inspires a club-ready beat and a playful energy, both on the decks and in person!
