Alireza Khodayari (born in 2001) is an Iranian composer and Tar player, known for his significant contributions to the Iranian music scene and beyond. Alireza's passion for music motivated him to commence his journey into composition at the age of 13, with a specific focus on the polyphonic and harmonic elements inherent in Iranian music. He pursued an associate degree in the major of Iranian music performance at the Tehran University of Art and is currently a first-semester student majoring in composition at Berklee.
Alireza has actively participated in numerous music festivals, both domestically and internationally, where he showcased his compositions to diverse audiences. His works, spanning from Iranian music ensembles to microtonal, contemporary, and classical compositions, demonstrate remarkable versatility. Some of his compositions have been performed by ensembles in Iran such as the "Nava ensemble", "QuarTar quartet", and at Berklee, including "Qantara ensemble". In recent years, he has focused on contemporary styles, particularly in chamber music settings such as string quartets and chamber orchestras, emphasizing his commitment to pushing musical boundaries and discovering new languages and timbres in composition. With a deep foundation in Iranian microtonal music, Alireza has left an indelible mark of originality in his contemporary works.
