The title of this project is fairly self-explanatory. It’s about the ego that it takes to make anything creative and to assume you’re making a unique contribution to the world and how inevitable failure ensues with lofty goals of art. But also the miraculous power of those failures to reveal alternate ideas that often provide more interesting tangents and results than the original vision.

I thought a lot about my brother when I was putting this together and how he had a fantastic hubris that enabled him to try (and achieve) an amazing array of creative and scholarly endeavors, including multiple albums of music of completely different styles and instrumentation that he taught himself to play and record. He was ahead of the curve on music for as long as I can remember. He was the first person I heard bumping stuff like Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton, and Art of Noise. In retrospect, I think my music is heavily influenced by the stuff he put me onto at an early age. So, this project is dedicated to him.

I logged an absurd amount of hours working on all this so I really appreciate your time and attention. Peace.

Special thanks to Marcus, Dan, and Mike for helping me sculpt this stuff into something greater and being some of the most one-of-one ones anybody could hope to call friends. Shout to the entire Eclecticollective funky bunch too for being the most creative, inspiring, and supportive crew on the planet. <3

*** Don't miss my album listening party (on the Bandcamp page for this album) on January 4th at 1pm EST! Ask me stuff or talk about what you're working on or whatever. Peace. ***
