“Cantos del Emigrante (Songs of the Emigrant) and More Spanish Songs for Tenor & Piano” [Afinat Records AR1801] is a complete (to date) collection of art songs and song cycles in Spanish for tenor voice and piano, composed by Asturian (Spanish) composer Jorge Muñiz, featuring the solo recording debut of Romanian tenor Emanuel-Cristian Caraman, pianists Jennifer Muñiz and the composer himself, Jorge Muñiz, with special guest cellist Si-Yan Darren Li. The recording features the substantial eight-song title cycle, "Cantos del Emigrante" for Tenor, Cello, and Piano (2006), "Tres apuntes (Three Pieces)" for Tenor and Piano (2002), and two single songs, "O primeiro madrigal (The First Madrigal)" (2001), the first song for tenor and piano the composer wrote, and the world premiere of "Oda a Covadonga (Ode to Covadonga)" (2005).
