In the depths of January 29th, 1985, Junior Stray emerged into existence, having ancestral lineage among the Apsáalooke (Crow Nation), deeply rooted in the soul of Montana. From the urban maze of Billings, shrouded in a perpetual veil of darkness, he rose amidst the turmoil of a city besieged by crime and ensnared by the tendrils of addiction.
Inspired by the stark realities of street life and the chilling whispers of horror, Junior Stray sculpted his lyrical prowess into the gritty and unapologetically raw genre of Grim-Core. His verses, like fragments of a fractured reality, mirror the struggles of a society steeped in shadow, offering a glimpse into the abyss where light dares not tread.
From the neon-lit boulevards of Las Vegas to the desolate plains of his homeland, Junior Strays journey is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit amidst the darkness. Through his music, he invites listeners to traverse the labyrinth of his psyche, where truth and illusion merge, and the boundaries between nightmare and reality dissolve into obscurity.
1999, at the tender age of 14, Junior Stray embarked on a transformative journey into the heart of the 406 underground rap scene. Alongside his childhood friend RedRum, they forged a formidable alliance, birthing the rap group known as S.K.S, short for Serial Killer Psychopath. Armed with little more than their raw talent and DIY ethos, they unleashed their music onto the world, recording mixtapes onto homemade disks in the back of RedRum’s mobile studio on the south side of Billings.
As the years unfolded, S.K.S carved their mark on the underground circuit. Meanwhile, Junior Stray blazed his own trail, dropping his solo projects " Unleashed" in 2006 & “Heaven’s Demon” in 2007. 2009 brought forth “Terror x Ten,” a testament to S.K.S’s unyielding presence in the rap landscape.
Junior Strays solo career soared to new heights as he signed with Street Sweeper Records, propelled by the success of “Terror x Ten.” However, the allure of solo artistry beckoned, and by November of that same year, Junior sought his release to pursue his own endeavors.
Amidst a whirlwind of performances and production work, 2010 heralded the release of “Shadows in the Night,” a haunting testament to Juniors relentless dedication to his craft. Despite his burgeoning solo career, Junior remained deeply entrenched in Horror core rap music, collaborating with fellow Billings artists and dropping cuts that resonated with audiences far and wide.
Yet, the siren call of the streets beckoned, leading Junior to wander through the neon-lit alleys of Las Vegas and beyond, until his path was momentarily diverted by the harsh realities of life. However, true to his nature, Junior emerged from the shadows in 2021 with the release of “Left for Dead,” a mixtape EP that marked his triumphant return to the forefront of the underground rap scene.
