Nelson Mandela and the Struggle Against Apartheid (2010) by United Nations

In this special programme for the first Nelson Mandela International Day (2010), UN Radio's Ben Malor looks back briefly at the struggle against apartheid and the campaign for Nelson Mandela's release in which the United Nations played an important role. We hear from key figures, who have worked closely with Mandela, including anti-apartheid activist Denis Goldberg, South African musician Hugh Masekela, and Ibrahim Gambari, the last Chairman of the UN Special Committee Against Apartheid. The programme opens with Nelson Mandela's first address to the UN General Assembly as President of South Africa.
