Valentin Barray Valentin Barray Paris Valentin Barray is a French pianist and composer. He started the piano very early on, playing with his father Laurent - himself a diatonic accordionist. Together, they played world music repertoire. Valentin discovered the joy of performing live with various music groups. He is still very inspired by these moments of spontaneous improvisation and oral music. At the age of 14, Valentin Barray started studying classical music and was received at the Royal College of Music of London. He studied classical piano, jazz, contemporary music and film scores. He was the pupil of Mike Moran ( Freddy Mercury’s pianist). At that time, he won several national and international piano competition. Valentin performed at Rouen’s Opera, London Festival Hall V&A museum, Sheffield Crucible Theatre, Paris Cité internationale of arts. As an artist-in residence at the Cité internationale of Arts in Paris, he composed and recorded his first album ‘Mirages’ released in 2017. This piano solo album is a personal exploring of folk and traditional music’s dance dimension. Since the release, Valentin has toured Europe and has performed his compositions, adapted for bals and concerts.
