Blair French is a Detroit-based producer, DJ, and cosmic messenger raised in a house of 7 on the outskirts of a historic city. From dancing at mom's disco parties at a young age, to releasing rap tapes in middle school, winning best soundtrack for the multi-award-winning film DETROPIA, and topping the Billboard charts with his Pure Sounds of Michigan compilation; ultimately French found a home in the world of all things Detroit, Pan-African, Balearic, and ambient. His diverse productions have been released on Rocksteady Disco, NuNorthern Soul, Razor N Tape, Claremont 56, Delsin, and more. Stylistically his sounds are immersive; transcending organic/electronic, uptempo/downtempo, and light/dark, rooted in peak-hour Deep Cosmic Afro House freak outs, blunted beatdown, Afrobeat, and soulful R&B.
With a slew of highly supported EPs under his belt, French has provided Rocksteady Disco’s LP debut with the 14 track album, THE ART OF US for September of 2020 release. The album brings together his closest heavyweight musical compatriots (Pathe Jassi, John Arnold, Craig Huckaby, Peter Croce, Michael Jurczak, Stephanie Fica, Kaylan Waterman (Vespre), Eddie Logix, Todd Modes (Cosmic Handshakes), Paul Randolph (Jazzanova), Ryan Gimpert (Will Sessions), Dan Haddad, and 2040) and brings together a large range of French’s style and taste.
