Lip Service by Andreas and the Revolving Riot published on 2023-11-07T15:34:22Z "Lip Service," was just one of those tracks... it came together so quickly. We (Six Hour Ride) were a few years out of high school and finally realizing how the last several years of politics was going to affect our adult futures. Eye-opening. At the same time, we were all going through our first rounds of real relationships and we had front row seats, each of us individually, at the circus that is life. All of the crew got to see who was all talk and no walk and who was willing to show up. Including ourselves and what role we played in it all. "It's all talk and you know it!" An exclamation throughout the track. We caught a little negative feedback for putting a siren in the song (my strong-willed idea), however, I still stand by that decision. It's almost a call to arms, a warning, or an alarm to notify you of the people hanging around that may just be all lip service. That's the symbolism for me, at least. People said it was cheesy and a distraction. One time, someone actually told us they were listening to the album for the first time and when that song came on they literally pulled over to the right side of the road to wait for the cop to pass. Made me chuckle. There will be a lyrics video on YouTube and though this is one of the later tracks in our debut album, "Paint," you can find it under my part of the publishing Co., Revolving Riot. I'll promo it when it's out. "Lip Service," has one of my favorite solos from Rob Farley and it definitely feels like an Audioslave riff. We were never ashamed to wear our influences on our sleeve. All the boys help with the falsetto on the intro and it was fun just sitting back and only spitting lyrics on this one. No guitar duties for me! With the 2024 election coming a year from today (It is November 7th, 2023 as I write this), it certainly feels like, yet again, we have to choose from the lesser of two evils. Either way, I just hope they do their fucking jobs and get us back on track because there is something wrong out there and it is getting worse. Thank you for listening! -Andreas Stavropoulos Genre Rock
