Arturo Mesquite Arturo Mesquite Miami Arturo Mesquite (lyricist) Mr. Mesquite was born in Sonora, Mexico. He emigrated to America at thirteen and was immediately drawn to American Pop music of the 30s and 40’s, which he attributes to a previous incarnation. Fascinated by his new discovery and passion, he taught himself to read music, and became involved in various intensive lyric-writing workshops. He has appeared in EVITA, IL PAGLIACCI and CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA. He is a counselor in body mind heaing, a knowledge that brings him in tune with life and a magic realism to his lyric writings. He has written songs for pop artists and television. Arturo has collaborated with Rita Provost on the play with music production of CYRANO DE BERGERAC performed at the Los Angeles Ford Amphitheater and the broadway musical "Viva La Vida: Frida Kahlo". Through his reverence for the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, his lyrics fuse history, politics, art icons and Latin passion in an effort to bring greater awareness of immigrant cultures to American audiences.
