Austin Smith
Elgin, Illinois
Austin Drew Smith, better known as Dj Bloody Flame (originally gonna be Auss&Awss ), is an American DJ/EDM Artist from Elgin, IL. He was born in Hartford, CT, on January 26, 1996. As a young child, he was exposed to the music world by listening to oldies, including The Beatles and other songs from when his parents were young. Throughout his life, music was his main focus, and always dreamed of being a musician. From ages 7 to 11, he was given many musical instruments as gifts, including a synthesizer and drumkit in which he kept in the basement of his home. As he reached adolescence, his passion for music grew stronger and stronger, and he always enjoyed dancing in his room through loudspeakers. It wasn’t until he listened to the French electronic duo Daft Punk that he wanted to become a DJ/producer. He also always enjoyed seeing DJs on their turntables wherever he was, whether at a party or on Field Day in Elementary School. Daft Punk’s song, Human After All, inspired him the most, considering that to be the most motivational song ever created. In 2010 to 2013, he initially wanted to go by the name, Auss&Awss as a reference to people calling him “Awesome Austin” and reversing the words and shortening them, along with an extra S to each. However, he changed it in 2014 because he wanted a better nickname that stood out more, along with a prefix that stands him out as well. He took two elements that described his emotions from his past and combined them. He considered his high school days to be like his life source (blood) exposed to negative energy (fire). Therefore he then called himself Dj Bloody Flame with DJ having a lowercase ”J” to make it more of a name that was unique to him. Through the years following, he discovered many DJ and production apps from suggestions from friends and ads on the internet, which improved his musical style in the electronic scene and an SSB Pioneer DJ Controller. His first ever song was back in the summer of 2016 when he created the piece Super Mario Forever, a reference to the popular video game series, in which both production and DJing were being used at the same time. The song is the 5th track in his first EP, Hot Splatter, released in 2017. He bases his music on his life, especially in his EP Internal Virus. The name derives from something that happened to him in early 2014 when the stress from a betrayal got the better of him. When he released the SoundCloud album Black Tears in 2018, he started using an altered version of his voice with an arpeggiated sound at the end, which he created using an app called Voice Synth and has used it ever since. By using his creative style with both production and DJing, his music and his mixes get better and better. His songs sometimes reference many popular cultures and have made many daft punk references in, Black Tears starting with Deep Electro. He tries to promote his music on Social media and believes that anything is possible in the world of Music. He dubs himself The DJ Of Life, which is also the 14th track in his second SoundCloud album Escape From Reality; he dubs himself that as a reference to him wanting to change and improve his life. His logo consists of different parts and has altered through the months, and his signature outfit has made many minor changes as well. Hot Splatter’s cover was the original logo before merging it with the title on his signature shirt through photo editing. Born with the natural rhythm that runs through him, he creates an intense sound and is known for his Michael Jackson Dance moves, which he posts on Youtube. Dj Bloody Flame, as he sports his iconic casual 90s-like look, believes he could change his life through music.
