Songwriter and independent artist, Rebecca Callander, professionally known as Beks, is a pop musician based in Brisbane, Australia. Rebecca has toured Australia and Japan, playing more than 364 live shows from dive bars to major theatres, touring Australia with The Darkness and appearing at festivals like Groovin the Moo, Big Pineapple Festival and more, shaping the artist into a highly engaged performer and songwriter; "It’s a glittery affair that immediately transports you to another dimension where you can just let go. It’s an escapism, which is wholeheartedly the power and ultimate premise of pop music" - Thomas Bleach.
After her past experiences as the front-women, guitarist of all-girl, punk-rock band RACKETT, Beks emerged as an independent, pop artist in 2020 and signed to Wise Music Publishing Global. Her first single release ‘Stars in my Eyes’ was well-received by local and international music publications, charting #1 on the Triple J Unearthed Dance Charts and featured in HYPE Machine, Pop Muzik and more. Later, Beks’ second single ‘The Thing About Us’ was picked up by Channel 7 and featured on a national TV and radio campaign ad for Home and Away. The single was also a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition 2021. Her work caught the attention of IKEA and was broadcasted globally when she was selected by the international franchise to be one of thirty artists to perform in the IKEA Concert Roulette Series.
Rebecca used her skills in video production, film and music to produce Loud n Queer TV during COVID 2020, and a self initiated, electropop collaboration project of 21 songs with various co-writers and producers such as Kim Moyes (The Presets), Taka Perry, Muki, Clara Fable and more. Following the success of her previous work, Beks launched her new disco-pop single ‘Devoted’ on the 11th August, 2021 which peaked at #3 on the global iTunes dance charts and #44 on the overall iTunes charts. The single has already been picked up by Channel 7 for her second ‘Home and Away’ global advertising campaign. As a 360 creative, Beks produced and starred in her music video 'Devoted' which was Tone deaf's VOTW and also a featured video on RAGE. The single has been played on both commercial and community radio stations; Triple J, The Edge, KIIS, B105, 4ZZZ and added to rotation on JOY FM and Coles radio. Beks recently caught the attention of IKEA and has been selected as 1 of 30 artists globally to perform in their digital series ‘Concert Roulette’ in partnership with Live Nation. To celebrate the release of 'Devoted' Beks hosted her first SOLD OUT headline show in her hometown of Brisbane at La La Land and will appear at Pride Festival in October.
