Iktsuarpok by Big Milk Studios published on 2022-03-11T17:06:32Z Wayward Sky's first full length album - Feelings unspoken "There are words that to describe feelings that simply don't exist in the English language, but that most, if not all of us, have experienced at one point or other in our lives. This album attempts to convey four of these feelings, and the term associated with it in another language. Utura-Utura: A Japanese term meaning "To drift between sleep and wakefulness." Dadirri: An Australian Aboriginal term meaning "A deep, spiritual act of reflective and respectful listening" Iktsuarpok: An Inuit word, meaning "The anticipation one feels when waiting for someone, whereby one keeps going outside to check if they have arrived." Saudade: A Portuguese term, translating to "A melancholic longing nostalgia for a person, place or thing that is far away, either spatially or in time - A vague, dreaming wistfulness for phenomena that may not even exist." Wayward Sky has tried to arrange these songs to tell a sort of vague story about how one may have felt as a child, first drifting between dreams and reality (Utura-Utura), then waking up and listening to stories told by their grandparents around a table (Dadirri), while eagerly waiting for their father to come visit (Iktsuarpok), only to have the subsequent disappointment and heartbreak when he doesn't (Saudade.) The final track is also meant to be ambiguous as to whether it's told from the perspective of someone who is a child, or someone reflecting on the experience of being a child and, despite the disappointment and heartbreak, missing those times."
