O.G. (Prod. Ashton McCreight) by Cale Charles published on 2020-08-13T20:02:47Z Cale Charles returns almost 2 years since his last album, Late Bloomers (2018) with Fluid. Fluid is an LP that, like any Cale Charles project, is filled with bouncy cadences, light melodies, and technical raps that will no-doubt have even the most seasoned Hip Hop fans rediscovering lines long after the initial release. What separates Fluid from other projects from Cale isn't its subject matter; Generally, we know to expect fun, if sometimes moody music from Cale Charles. He delivers such again with Fluid. What separates Fluid isn't its production; We know with their resources, no ClubhouseAL artist struggles with beat selection (although Fluid does have the distinction of being Cale's first release with no in-house production). What separates Fluid from other Cale Charles efforts is the suddenness of it. At just over half an hour, by the time you finish the first listen, it seems only right to run it back. It commands replays well beyond the first listen. What separates Fluid is its cohesion. From O.G. to Blockt, each next song separates itself from the others while still seamlessly meshing together, making for one very good album from one of the most talented music artists in Alabama. What separates Fluid from any other Cale Charles project, and 98% of underground projects as is just that: Its fluidity.
