Come Sail Away (Styx cover) by Canary (band) published on 2016-11-16T11:55:52Z Written by Dennis De Young. Originally recorded by Styx (1977). Our recording/mix: early to mid November 2016. I think we're both not-so secretly Styx fans. 'Kilroy Was Here' was (for better or worse) the first album I waited in line to buy at the National Record Mart when it was first released in 1983. Before and/or after that, I bought all of their albums at NRM or via my Columbia House Record Club membership. (Seriously, I have from 'Styx I' to 'Caught in the Act - Live' on vinyl.) Always loved 'The Grand Illusion' album. Bombastic, prog-lite, pop, and rock. (Soapbox Alert: Dennis DeYoung was and is the heart and soul of Styx; his songs helped to define their sound. Without him in the lineup, it's no longer the same band... So, here's to you Dennis.) Anyway, this song has it all: plaintive beginning; big, catchy chorus; goofy prog middle/solo. Easy to learn and fun to record. Sing along in your car. Genre Alternative Rock
