Carlos Machado
Curitiba
Carlos Machado (Curitiba, Brazil, 1977) is a composer, musician, fiction writer and professor.
During a period of 10 years, he has played the bass in a heavy metal band called Sad Theory. Together, they have released 4 CDs: "The Lady and the Torch" (Megahard Records, 2002); "A Madrigal of Sorrow" (Die Hard Records, 2004), "Biomechanical" (Die Hard Records, 2008 e "Descrítica Patológica de um Asceta Moribundo" (independent).
After the split of Sad Theory, Carlos got envolved with his own music, and has opened his musical style to the Brazilian influence. He has joined another band (Brazilian music), called TENDÉU, with Esther Tribuzy - the lead singer - (with whom he was married) and has recorded the album “Tendéu”, in 2009. All of the songs were composed by Carlos Machado with some partners (or none). The production was done by the flamenco’s top 10 guitarist in Brazil, Murillo Da Rós (www.murillodaros.com).
In 2011, after the end of TENDÉU, Carlos composed about 25 new songs and recorded his first solo CD “Samba Portátil” (Brazilian Contemporary Music). Some of the compositions were done together with his long date friend, the poet Fernando Koproski, and all of the instruments were recorded by Carlos. The CD was produced, once again, by Murillo Da Rós.
In 2012, Carlos has finished his new work, “Longe”, (his 2nd solo CD). All of the compositions were written by him (and some of them together with Fernando Koproski again) and recorded, for the first time, with Murillo Da Rós, who also produced the songs. His flamenco guitar style with Carlos’ Brazilian influence has produced a great musical work.
Besides his work with music, Carlos Machado has also written and published 3 fiction books: “A Voz do Outro” (short stories. ed. 7letras, 2006), “Nós da Província: diálogo com o carbono” (short stories. ed. 7letras, 2007) e “Balada de uma Retina Sulamericana” (novel. ed. 7letras, 2008).
