Something To Liken It To by Christopher Joseph Wallace published on 2022-01-05T16:30:34Z Sometimes you feel divorced from everything, like everyone is going about their lives but you’re just watching from afar. Written in 1995. Something To Liken It To A table with a name scratched deep, A window pane thick with dust Unwoken from an endless sleep, All moving joints seized with rust, Here is something to liken it to. A garden choked with weeds and thorns, A cobweb hangs across a door, The pathway is so overgrown, Since no one has been here before, Here is something to liken it to. It’s not about keeping up, It’s not about giving up, Time is standing still While all around it moves so fast, People growing far apart, Here is still trapped in the past. In perpetual eventide, A newspaper on the chair, A faded photo on the side, Unopened letters on the stair, Here is something to liken it to. Most of my songs are written with just my guitar and I record them without too much of a plan so they sort of “grow organically” so it’s great to know that I’m getting the ‘feel’ right 😄👍 2022-08-27T14:19:35Z Comment by Mr Cagey Really great intro, wonderful guitar work to the solo vocal. Fab use of reverbs as well. All the songs of yours that ive listened to so far have a 60's early 70's feel to them with the addition of modern beats and synth sounds. Even your vocals have the vibe of CSNY but also newer bands like Fleet Foxes who themselves, delve back into the brilliant music of the past for inspiration. This is a lovely song man. 2022-08-21T09:09:53Z Comment by SuZanne Ledwith So chill and carries me along, lovely Christopher. 2022-02-14T18:14:51Z Comment by The Welton Shipwreck Lovely ambiance, definitely a feel of Simon & Garfunkel or Crosby, Stills and Nash here.
