DC Fontana DC Fontana make turned-on music to shake your hips & pluck your heartstrings. Their word & song comes from the joy & pain of everyday life filtered through a kaleidoscope with continually changing patterns. The DCs' genre-defying music is as urban as Harry Palmer & as pagan & hallucinatory as Lord Summerisle. Founding member Mark Mortimer has nurtured & directed the group since its inception & is one of the group's composers along with Scott Riley who used to play with Spectrum, the much-loved off-shoot of the Spacemen 3. Together with long time Julian Cope guitarist/producer Donald Ross Skinner, Mortimer & Riley plus drummer Nigel Horton & guitarist Nick Read have forged a thrilling new sound. The group's recent 'Pentagram Man EP' reached no 3 in the International Indie Charts & the group will spend most of 2013 recording their new album. It's not just city music or country music but a new celestial kosmische muzik! In the meantime, the band's prolific output also includes their French & Italian sung album 'La Contessa,' the 'Meshkalina EP' & debut album 'Six Against Eight.' ALL ARE AVAILABLE FROM www.dcfontana.com/shop.html Sleeve notes on 'La Contessa' record were written by jazz legends Keith & Julie Tippetts (aka Driscoll) while British psychedelic guru Peter Daltrey of seminal 60s band Kaleidoscope wrote the liner notes for 'Pentagram Man.'. DC Fontana's debut, the kitchen-sink drama 'Six Against Eight' was recorded inside the famous Parr Street Studios in Liverpool – where they had been invited to record by legendary Echo & The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant. Here they came up with a fascinating collection of mesmerising tunes: a sonic stew of eclectic ingredients. The debut album & the follow up 'Meshkalina' have been critically acclaimed for the band’s cool & varied sound, steeped in amazing musicianship, fabulous vocals & compelling studio production – music, which sounds just as good as the old & as forward thinking as the new. Their releases combine with a series of allegorical short art-films to prove that DC Fontana are more than just fine songwriters, singers & musicians; & the group is as excitingly unpredictable as it is sizzling on stage.
