Elvis Diphofa born 10 August known as Style, is a South African musician, DJ, singer, record producer of house music, Although he has used many aliases in the past, he is best known for his work as DJ STYLE. He was born in Mpumalanga and grew up in Soweto Mapetla. Styles career started at tender age of 13 years playing at weddings, social gatherings with cd cassette to ultimately using vynals. His passion grew beyond his expectations and started producing music in 2003 releasing his materials on the streets. In early in 2004, he was applying to music labels and turned down numerous times, until he met Dj Pacco in Pretoria with common interest to create music.
In 2006 to 2007, he went to study Sound Engineering and Editing at DAT Music Academy, His reason for studying music was because he felt that as a producer, he had to unearth his whole musical understanding, improve his listening skills and advance his knowledge of music theory. Meanwhile, He released four cds under Music Replication Record from 2006 to 2008 with Dj Pacco.
In 2009, Style signed to House Therapy Records where he produced records for multi-platinum artist Bujo Mojo songs such as marry me, Ingifuna wena, summer rain and many others including Andile Ncube debut album with tracks like song for you. In late 2009, Style was already getting popularity in club scene of Pretoria, and the release of an album For the love of Entertainment with a hit single Call me if love me. The album sold over platinum and received high ratings in Namibia where it was number one for weeks and also in Lesotho, Botswana, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and South Africa. He travelled most parts of Africa playing in concerts, festivals, sharing stage with industry heavy weights.
In the first week of May 2010, he released his second artist double album The future begins which sold over 50 000 units. On 7th May he performed the track Ayobawess featuring Biblos and Bujomojo at the biggest televsion channel in South Africa with over 16 million viewers. In February 2010, he won the best producing artist from Namibian Music Awards. In June during the 2010 Fifa World Cup, he performed at the FNB Stadium opening match between South African and Mexico with over 80 000 people in attendance.
Subsequently in September 2010, Style went to Australia to perform at club Lavegos and Madagascar where he was received with great love. He returned to South Africa on the 20th September to release his second single of the album Standwa Sam featuring Namibians artists Lady May and Bethol. The song went to be number 1 on all radio stations in Namibia. He was later invited to perform for the President of Namibia (Windhoek) in December. He also performed at the sold out Festivals at University of Namibia stadium and Swartkop Beach. The tour continued in 2011 and performed in Botswana, Zambia and Angola.
In October 2011, Style signed a publishing deal with Universal Music and ahead of that he released his third studio solo album titled Paradise, the song Paradise featured Chill Soul from United Kingdom went on to be Number one in Namibia for 20 weeks. .
In 2012, he released his fourth studio album Super House Volume 7 released under Super House Records which reached a gold level, with tracks like Dziginya nhloko. Style felt that his music was taking a different directions and his focus as an artist was moving away from what House Therapy was set up to support . The first single Dziginya nhloko featuring Mr Nice being released in June 2012 reaching number 1 of 10 out 15th radio stations in South Africa.
The song also won the best traditional awards from South African Traditional Music Awards in Eastern Cape with over 20 million people votes from across the country and was compiled from the album of Dj Malwela(Metrofm) released under TS Records. Style toured across South Africa’s and sharing stage with Black Coffee, Cleo, Oskido, Micasa, Black Motion, Mafikizolo and many others. In late 2013, Dj Style was back in studio in preparation of his fifth double album, with a new single Take It Back featuring Elinah already taking people by storm in some parts of South Africa and in Namibia.
