For this new issue, it is with great pleasure that we present a mix of Kipepeo. Our most faithful listeners may remember the voice of Elsa, host of Électro Lab for the 2018-2019 season. When this sound enthusiast, now living in Paris, isn't looking for trouble in the after parties of the capital or working on her new radio project Around The Sound, whose podcasts you can listen to on C Lab's website, she's putting her hand on the turntable to share her latest discoveries.
She mostly played for friends at gathering or parties, some of them still remember a six-hour performance at New Year's Eve! Yes, yes, some of them do remember... But she also had the opportunity to perform on nice stages in Lyon at the invitation of Multiversal Records, or at the Melting Dub festival in Lamballe.
"The acid tones are very present, they dress and make the whole thing coherent. Otherwise we are on a deep house / minimal, a bit pitchy. And 2-3 breakbeat tracks. Besides, I really found it very interesting to mix. It's not easy to integrate but at the same time super satisfying when you manage to find the combination that makes it good.
Otherwise, for the construction of the set, it's a track that determined all the others. I listened to Kizoku's last EP, and I started to navigate around the artist, to build my set.Once I had about thirty tracks, I started, without planning any order in the tracks. I knew the first one I wanted to play, and the last one. The rest was improvised. "
"For women DJ/producers who inspire me. These include:
- Kampire: Talented Ugandan DJ spotted by the Nyege Nyege Tapes (even ambassador today). I like her vibe, she goes everywhere, very creative.
- Bambii: Canadian DJ, for her good jump sets, hip hop flavours and heavy bass.
- Sama Abdulhadi : Palestinian DJ, for her exploration in the deep underground. Then for all that she can represent by being an independent artist in the Arab world.
- Yaeji : New York DJ and producer, but who has lived most of her life in South Korea. I love her especially for her productions in the form of unstructured pop music.
- Mina: London DJ who mixes dancehall. A genre I particularly like but complex to find a really good playlist and master it.
That way you get an artist I love by region of the world."
