Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, Harriet's journey is one marked by a strong faith in the belief that you can overcome, if you try hard enough. Like so many women, in her quest for love, she married a man who physically and emotionally abused her. An immigrant with no landed status, Harriet was dependendent on a system of justice to provider her with legal immigration status in order to continue living in the United States. When the marriage ended, she was left with no status and had to find an immigration attorney who through The Violence Against Women's Act processed and solidified her immigration status. The journey from non-resident to resident took fifteen years. In the meantime, she worked and wrote books and hosted radio shows and was interviewed on Television about her books and her experiences. Today she writes daily in her blog; Harriet's Blog:Never Look Back. Listen as Dr. Shellie Hipsky interviews her friend Harriet for Empowering Women Radio! Genre Domestic Violence
