Orange Waves (acoustic rough) by Francois Cormier published on 2021-10-13T11:54:31Z Something more traditional/folksy I've been chipping away at for a bit, struggling to flesh it out with more instrumentation. However, the more I listen to its currently bare-cupboard, acoustic vocals+piano arrangement, maybe it's simply *meant* to remain rough and rudimentary? So please pay no attention to the little finger flubs here and there, and just let yourself get washed over by the orange waves of the Northumberland Strait, where I grew up and where my childish heart still beats. *** Orange waves crash then go Stealing sand with its ebb and flow Holes dotting cliffsides' red clay Where the swallows sleeping lay Beyond green edge a homestead puffs away Hurls hardwood smoke through cold blue Rocking chairs paired, slowly rotting grey Island smiles from across the way Thin dark line splits Strait and sky It flickers ghostly, hovers fey Once Ile Saint-Jean, now PEI Each flat stone we throw from the beach With dreams to skip, perhaps to fly All doomed to sink, the island never reached Drowning jealous of the driftwood swimming by As full moon flirts with blushing tide Salt waters sink and sandbars swell Before they change their minds and hide I take their path to Mount Carmel Beyond green edge a homestead puffs away Hurls hardwood smoke through cold blue Rocking chairs paired, slowly rotting grey At Trois-Ruisseaux I wait for you At Trois-Ruisseaux I wait for you Trois-Ruisseaux Genre Strait Outta Kid-hood Comment by cb great!!! 2023-01-17T05:17:52Z Comment by Spicy Invalid love how the chord extensions add a new context to the melodies 2022-10-19T10:26:28Z Comment by Spicy Invalid excellent refrain. does have that middle age folk feel. wonderful performance. your voice is great and comforting! pianoplaying is solid gold! 2022-10-19T10:25:45Z Comment by lil' spaceman this big slow chords!! love. 2022-10-07T16:22:12Z Comment by lil' spaceman you have quite the touch on the keys, and you have a wonderful voice. it is cool hearing it stretched out here a bit. 2022-10-07T16:20:57Z Comment by Miaow McDonald stunning.... 2022-08-14T01:44:44Z Comment by Gaz Brownie Great piano melody and vocal 👍 2022-02-28T20:41:22Z Comment by Devin Locke I accidentally learned this on guitar yesterday while writing and full throttle belly busted into the line "orange waves crash then gooo" 2022-01-26T13:33:07Z Comment by TexMex Shaman your voice carries the emotion of the story here - the piano is a faithful partner to lean on as it all unfolds - great track man, I'd say more raw than rudimentary. this has it where it counts. enjoyed this 2021-12-19T20:09:11Z Comment by Francois Cormier @mozactab: Thanks so much! But I think this is a very honest version. I wouldn't add if it feels forced. Great playing and the voice sounds very pure. Enjoyed this and wouldn't mind having more. Wonderful piano lines. Really is nice heard again right at the end. You got the chops, I want more. 2021-11-23T01:40:14Z Comment by Tot. Listen and my heart is orange juice. .. I have recently been listening to The Incredible String Band - British alt folk from way back when. This is very much in that vein of playful yet incisive and im gery extraordinaire. 2021-11-07T01:56:12Z Comment by AudioSubtitles Beautiful!! 2021-11-05T13:18:08Z Comment by Steve Low Drowning jealous of the driftwood swimming by - great line!
