Montreal
Born and raised in rural Ontario, bandleader and songwriter, Fraser Wayne, cut his teeth in the music world after moving to Montreal in 2014. Wayne has been an integral part of the underground music scene in Montreal since his arrival. After years fronting seminal garage rock band, The Fuzzy Undertones, Fraser chose to break off to pursue a new vision and sound, with a focus on honest songwriting and imaginative storytelling. The resulting project breaks into some diverse influences, ranging from Americana, folk-rock, modern psychedelia, 70’s punk, spaghetti western soundtracks and more.
After releasing his debut LP, "Demonology" and a follow-up EP, titled "Primordial Rage Of The Cowboy" in 2020, Fraser Wayne is back again with a laid-back yet introspective take on folk-rock, garage, and country music! The new album contains 8 self-produced tracks which take us on a lonely journey through the ups and downs of maturing and growing as a young adult. Stories of a human who has made mistakes and followed the devil too far. Songs of love, loss, redemption, and healing. This collection of well crafted tunes dances seamlessly between full band folk-rock jams reminiscent of Neil Young & Crazy Horse - to softer and more vulnerable songs which showcase Fraser’s sincere and heart-wrenching lyricism - to more of the spooky western soundscapes we became familiar with on his 2020 releases.
In addition to being a bandleader and songwriter, Fraser has made himself a Montreal mainstay thanks to his role as head of the DIY record label, Fishbum Records, which has released a handful of records from musicians all over the spectrum of North American rock n roll, including Lake Of Fire (Austin, TX), Vypers (Toronto, ON), Light Bulb Alley (Montreal, QC) and more. With years of performing and touring experience behind him, including supporting slots for Paul Jacobs, Spindrift, and The Sadies, Fraser Wayne’s haunting, gothic take on psych rock and western is set to take no prisoners. The cosmic cowboy is here to stay.
