Sidewinder by Helen Melon published on 2018-04-17T21:37:38Z Sidewinder Feb/March©helenmelon2018 It's just the wind winding round, finding fault/ that old sidewinder, old as time, old as doubt/ seeking out the gaps in the collapsing rock/ that fire baked hard and water slaked and searched the secret layers of It's just the wind and dare not sink too deep in knowing/ but keeps a wooing and a whispering going/ grains of sand it may take up to tint the sky, to blot the sun/ to gossip round the globe and drop/ and not to build your house upon oh leave it to the trees, our guardians and go-betweens/ and leave it to the birds/ with feathers fashioned for it/ they held their arms out in surrender to its empty promise and fell into never-never land! Their songs and cries are like the wind, as melody is motion/ but do not take to deep to heart the wind when spoken/ that forked tongue wraps it up too tight, what's only passing through/ whether spitting hate or speaking tender, words are never true It's just the wind and dare not sink too deep in knowing/ but keeps a wooing and a whispering going/ it's gonna pick you up and turn you aound and blow you wide open for awhile, but just for a while/ Do not pin your smile upon the wind! It keeps a wooing and a whispering going/ It's just the wind and dare not sink too deep in knowing
