MIX 1
Today we are listening to a mix that refers to the best time of italo disco and we are lucky that The Robots scientists were at that time. Dancing in the best clubs and discovering the world of Italo disco. You can see the Robots Scientists so young at the photo ... wanting to have fun and sure that with passion for electronic music of the moment.
That era had to be so magical, to discover new sounds and new italo bands and surely many of them are not famous at all. The first mix is an example of the most underground and rare Italo disco music that could be heard in the 80's. It's so nice to meet people who could enjoy that feeling and who can also transform it into a mix as fabulous as this one.
MIX 2 1:20:00
Time passes and you have to know how to adapt to the moment and the situation of electronics today, the clear example is the record label of Emerald & Doreen Records stamp that has published great artists such as Skatebard, Alexander Robotnick, Pardon Moi etc. Knowing how to adapt the Italo and what is new now is not easy ... so The Robots Scientists knows very well what to choose to define the style of the label. The second part of the mix is a clear example of not losing the Italo style ... but with electronic sound now. A masterclass of catchy and super danceable rhythms. It is difficult to maintain the style when you have lived at different times ... but they dominate it perfectly.
The Robot Scientists became known initially through myspace in 2008 with their Musica Da Batticuore retro-disco mix series and are now highly respected worldwide for their sophisticated „hits only“-selections and energetic live sets. Their sound is always hypnotic, melodic and futuristic, very emotional, always uplifting, at times melancholic. They play 80s-infused contemporary Psychedelic House, Dark Disco, Space Disco and some retro Italo/New Wave Dance hits. Their eclectic live sets are inspired by DJ legends like DJ Harvey, Daniele Baldelli, Todd Terje and Gerd Janson, but with a unique robot soul twist you will love.
History
Stefan and Markus met again in 2008 in Saarbrücken, after exactly twenty years without seeing and hearing from each other. Markus was just back from studying and working all over Germany, so they haven't met after their common school days which ended in 1988. As teenagers, they had played in the same basketball and football teams and DJed Italo Disco and New Wave vinyl records together at school disco parties. In the middle of the 1980s, they became heavily influenced by their DJ-godfather Ronald Springer who was the resident DJ at their local discotheque called "Chic" in their hometown Völklingen at the border to France. Ronald, who died far too early in 2016, had worked at the Studio 54 and the BBC before and brought the Italian, Belgian and Dutch club sound to the Saarlandish club which was the second biggest in the South-West after the Dorian Gray in Frankfurt. Back then, both invested every Deutschmark they had into the best italo disco records Ronald played on Saturdays. They bought them at their local record store „Musiktruhe“ where numerous Chic-goers demanded the hottest underground Italo tracks on a weekly basis. Records were sold in masses, you could even get Italo Disco imports from Mr.Disc or Il Disc there and underground Italo classics like Mr.Flagio, Charlie and Doctor's Cat for a price of 12,90 up to 14,90 Deutschmark.
