If The Dragon Could Speak 4:30 The Orchard Storm clouds turn the world blue-grey as Clare’s Friends ogle the ring and try it on. Clare cuts tall weeds with a machete, filled with uncertainty and doubt. A noise in the bushes frightens them. Panicked, they drop the ring and run away—except Clare who angrily jabs the bushes with her machete. The Dragon leaps out to avoid her blade. She threatens him with her machete to stay back. He’s mad she tried to stab him. She’s furious at him for scaring her Friends. They argue about who scared who. Wounded by her anger, he kneels and bows his head, then holds out her red bandana. Astonished, she stabs the machete in the ground, takes the bandana, then remembers the wolves and realizes he saved her life. He slowly beats his wings, raising a breeze on which arise angelic voices saying what he cannot. Mist streams across the ground, out of which come Spirits of Nature. The clouds clear. Brilliant light streams down. The air fills with glistening silver sparkles. The Spirits swirl around her in intricate patterns. Their adoration magically lifts her into the air above them. They lower her before the kneeling Dragon and vanish into the forest. She places her hand on his shoulder, now understanding the depth of his love.
