Lonely Soul by Jeff Simmelink published on 2016-05-22T17:35:34Z There are moments in your live in which you’re on a crossroad of choices to make and the future looks like a lonely desert trail. Not knowing where to go….. Koen Stegerman came with this chord scheme (E – A – C#m7) and we recorded a first track in one take. However it was recorded with a full note lowered guitar tuning (DGCFAD) as used quite often, so in fact it is D – G – Bm7. He plays the lead guitar. I duplicated this with some delay and panned both quite broad with the focus to mid right. I recorded a second rhythm guitar track with some distortion and panned it left. 2 copies of the same track were used with a special effect for soundscaping: a small adapted ‘metal winds’ preset from GTR3.5. One of the tracks is also phase reversed and with a small delay. Both also broad panned with the focus mid left. Same set-up is used for a duplicated harmonica track for which the ‘desolation’ preset of the PSP85 is used. The cajon serves as percussion, together with a drumstick track with some delay. The bass track completes the instrumental part A few days later the vocals were recorded and the harmonica solo in the break.
