Inflation Is Not My Friend by Observations From The Fringe published on 2023-01-16T22:11:14Z Did you know in the US that, $100 is now worth $91.82? It's called inflation. It's not our friend. Genre Business Comment by Alice My best friend, living here in Playa del Carmen, is from Venezuela. She is in her late 60s and has to work, although she has retirement monies, from Ven. system, that would be comprable to above the average US Social Security monthly payment. It now pays her just a very few dollars due to the HUGE inflation. It is actually only a few dollars, in US currency. Most of us have no idea how difficult it has become to live in Venezuela, for all but the rich, who are mostly connected to the government. For years she has been sending monies to her brother, from her meager earnings here in Mexico, who is a dentist, to help him make ends meet, and help to support for the care of her very elderly mother. Monthly she had muled down medicines, adult diapers, chocolate candy, and many other things so hard to get there. She has sent him shoes and cell phones. It is shocking to learn how terrible life is in what used to be one of the most prosperous countries in the Americas. 2023-04-25T05:07:04Z
