Joe Taylor
New York, Los Angeles
'Soulful', 'Evocative', and 'Awe-spiring' are all great descriptions used by both music critics and fans that have experienced Joe Taylor performing live. With the release of his full length CD titled "Anything's Possible," Joe Taylor has captured the magic and vibrancy of those live performances on a studio CD that combines his contemporary pop/rock acoustic sound with the great singer/songwriters of the 1970s and 80s.
Joe Taylor developed his sound while performing in his native Toronto, Canada's music scene. He evolved while cutting his teeth in New York City during a long list of appearances at iconic music venues including CBGB's 313 Gallery, The Knitting Factory's Tap Room, The Bitter End, Kenny's Castaway, The Triad Theater, The Red Lion, C-Note, and The Back Fence.
With engagements across the United States, Joe has been featured on stages in major cities and at such popular venues as the Hollywood House of Blues, the Mandalay Bay Casino, M Resorts, The Tower Theater and on college tours and music festivals. With each new show date scheduled, Joe continues to excite and move audiences with the sweet melodic timbre of his retro-pop sound.
In 2008, The New York Times created two video features that shined a spotlight on Joe's talents. Dubbed the "Subway Idol" by The New York Times, their camera crews followed Joe through the auditioning process to earn a coveted spot in New York City's "Music Under New York" program. Following Joe from his doorstep to showcasing with a live performance before authority judges, to receiving a permit to perform publicly; the New York Times brought Joe's performance to the front page of their website representing Joe as the level of ability required to win. From more than 200 applicants, Joe was hand selected with less than two-dozen recipients of the permit.
A list of talents collaborated on "Anything's Possible," including Producer and Audio Engineer Jeff Gross (Bob Saget, My Ruin, Gary Wright, Rick Springfield) and Grammy(R)-winning Engineer Matthew Spindel (Santana, Don Henley, Tom Petty, Fleetwood Mac, Rick Springfield, George Benson). Released on their label, Red Road Music, the CD includes co-writing and performances from stellar artists including bassist Matt Bissonette among others. Track two on the CD, the Taylor produced "Sweetest Tune" charted in Canada's FM-Radio 'top ten' and has been a featured song on NBC's daytime drama "Days of Our Lives." The album has been received by fans on streaming radio nationally and internationally and has become a top request on the college radio circuit.
Joe Taylor also lent his vocals to Rick Springfield, performing background vocals on select tracks for Springfield's 2012 album release titled "Songs for the End of the World."
With the release of "Anything's Possible," Joe Taylor is primed to reach larger audiences with his unique sound and catchy tunes that do more than just entertain; they stir the soul. With new performances being scheduled, you can count on seeing Joe in a city near you soon.
Critics Reviews:
"Whether he's above or below ground, Taylor stays true to his own lyrics." ~ CTV News
"Though he is not a household name yet, music listeners should take notice." ~ fashionreverie.com
"The end result ["Anything's Possible"] is extra-friendly acoustic pop rock, and while Taylor has had his fair share of comparisons to songwriters of the 70's,each of the album's twelve tracks even recall a bit of mid-90's radio-ready adult contemporary. It's polished to a high gloss." ~ Tapezine.com
Joe Taylor is featured at #3 on The Top 10 Indie Live Music Performances in the Los Angeles Examiner for his performance at The Mint.
