Blackout by Karl Foo published on 2023-11-29T22:26:01Z The inspiration for the track "Blackout" stems from the Korean rhythm "Hwimori" (휘모리), which becomes recognizable towards the end. Originally, I had no intention of producing another "four to the floor" track, but the consistent beat of the Buk, a Korean drum, in the Hwimori rhythm led almost automatically to it. Although the music cannot be strictly considered Korean, I have incorporated some Korean samples. The concept of rhythm can also be culturally nuanced. The repetition of regular temporal units, for example, can be derived from the heartbeat or, quite differently, from the human breath. In this piece, you simply hear the continuous pulsating beat, essentially fixed without any accelerations or decelerations within the cycles.
