Alexey Gorokholinsky (aka Kronodigger), comes from professional classical music background. Praised as one of the very best clarinetists of his time, Alexey is alumni of both The Juilliard School and special artist program of Carnegie Hall - CONNECT. His passion for electronic music took roots when he was only 12 years old, being exposed to an extreme variety of traditional, experimental, and underground electronic music genres thanks to Russian pirate radio stations.
In 2009 he began composing his first album for electronics and clarinet while still at the Juilliard School.
In 2015 he got signed to label Encrypted Audio and saw the release of his first EP “ENC 015”. Since then, the label has gotten a big recognition in dubstep and bass music community as “the label with the most forward-thinking artist roster”.
Same year Alexey has started collaborating with a highly praised NY dance theater company Sidra Bell Dance New York. DJ-ing for company’s dance modules, he was offered to compose a full score for 1.5 hour dance show premiere “LOSTLANGUAGE”. The collaboration resulted in 8 live performances at Baruch Performing Arts Center in June 2016.
August 2016 Alexey combined forces with experimental dubstep producer Fill Spectre and they created their project TROP, that was initiated to push the boundaries of sound design and bass music even further. In February 2017 their full length self-titled album saw release on Encrypted Audio as the very first full length album of the label. The album got reviews from magazines such as Igloo and was described as “outward-bound, bass-driven electronic album that baffles preconceived notions of breakcore/dubstep terrain”.
In December of 2017 Alexey and his collaborator clarinetist Sebastian Lambertz took their project “Clarinet & DJ” on a tour to Taiwan. The project consisted of Alexey’s dance-like tracks with composed clarinet parts. The tour consisted of 6 shows and took the duo to such places as Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung, and other cities.
Kronodigger’s sound has been getting recognition and support among many artists in the bass music community including famous trio “Noisia” with the feature on their radio show.
2018 sees another busy year with Kronodigger awaiting releases of his 5 track EP on Encrypted Audio, 2 track EP on label Silent Motion, and another collaboration with Sidra Bell’s dance company for the show “FRICTION” scheduled for June 2018.
