Late Seating episode 21: A Christmas Story by The Lemme Listen Podcasts published on 2015-12-25T08:41:53Z Steve and Jason shoot their eyes out. Genre a christmas story Comment by Sonder What I like is how this is almost always Ralphie's "interpretation" of reality. The clearest example is when he visits Santa at Higbys. The whole scene is scary and unpleasant. But when Ralphie exits the scene and we get one final shot of Santa and the elves they are being really nice and pleasant, the way we would expect a professionals to be and not at all the way Ralphie experienced it. This makes the movie more interesting to watch as an adult as I try to figure out what really happened versus what is embelished through a childs memory. This is my favorite version, too. I recall being confused when I heard George C. Scott was playing Scrooge (he is so robust and usually they choose a lean, skinny old man for the part.) But holy cats, that man brought such weight to the part. I also love that they leave in so many elements of the story (and the dialogue from the book.) 2015-12-25T20:07:44Z
