hyperloop [disquiet0086-hyperloop] by lowkeynw published on 2013-08-26T01:59:37Z The term "hyperloop" gave me an idea to use oscillators that were slowly drifting between a randomized set of intervals but always returning to the same fundamental pitch. After trying several options in Max, I settled on sawtooth waves that drifted between quarter-tone intervals with the maximum no more than a minor third. I needed numbers for the various timing mechanisms in the patch, so I googled the term "hyperloop numbers" and it lead me to the following page: http://mashable.com/2013/08/13/hyperloop-elon-musk-numbers/ This provided me with several numbers used in setting the durations between events in my Max patch, although I did multiply by 10 or combine digits in some cases. I also felt I needed a bit more bass, so I modified the patch to produce a sine tone two octaves lower than the original sawtooth waves. Individual layers were recorded and then imported into Logic Pro, where I added a bit of automation to the volume of each layer, as well as some overall EQ and reverb. ***Max Patch*** <pre><code> ----------begin_max5_patcher---------- 2164.3oc6bksbaaCE8Y6uBN5wVEWrbwVeqeGcxjgVh1goxTZnnSbSl3u8RRP YyDKAbsqy0Tj5EYKJLDGb3c6fE9syOa1kquKa6rj+L4uSN6ruc9Ym0dolKbV 22Oa1Mo2sXU511lMqZ80WuJa1b+OUb6M4EqxpZ+Md2EyW11x0W9o2Ys6Z4lz pEeLu35OTlsnx2gNyEr4IZFq4OhG9L48OdyWea0Oe28Wp5e2j4uKyxKpueu+ gtoL8lrprxOjUjd4p11vZ9oue94MeLG4v7lrsaSu9gwYU1cU9A0lrh8N3EOc vKzAF7FgezqcWnlmHa+B21aze05hps4escDvE0+bHRoowE0C7199uJySWM6P zUMW8VwGp.7gTJlZ7A2EfOTB2jiOB4uvYGU7QQ1WpGROgN1dU8HZc4x6SDnY EdnnHZcCczwJF9Shg9qhU1lecQ8O+FyMAcfz1oL0DJwqzyFSUpITZHtRNZnl UqSW1DWNgisbMWnXMNktgMTMQcqoFAYTyKiT1TlsMqB8HmgXjqZGybeAqvgK UENzHYGl7EsN+muviUw1d4OrLsJcWs4OLJ881kYk8FI0W6w1Va25Sb.M22qV stt4c+WZSWopSjxbNmc9iM0zzfck1uCc7GaffEqAtlK2ArGZfTIYrGajzcXD IpQjqWSsQ5PoNVCX6CQZKzGQZyAPj8h97iNVmogHMPY2GZ3BQeznjGFMNFiI 50Tw95v92qXOw.XuHRp5iHK+vHptgrd2OarNzD6QpQrWD0zO85l8ZnY8gHZh O7xhf1c+Ppp0ErPUek6bEzFzf8xhSJd9wI6hobYZw0u9BhOPNle69j2wQWSh ITorJaufrR8wbl2mGqDR1iTnNBYkmk2jQDX7KjsNS9pxFK9RGRr7hUYokySZ 6TjFOFYnPQtVxSvasgztiSMy+QBbAZ5.BQGl1YMPnZqpWJZpvmDeIeVyWSNY S5h+IgcQButXTzbiBA2XaczL1Adw8GfVtsrHwhlOBNcScwZ7tNR6aTfmWQcx YqRPmRxXhapvMr+OojdATiOt3K0j44svEFabFPIFfKbwAd7WeqKW+7BW3hy. t1wtgQVzhWtawybcqXHb.7klLvd9uSqFxwYnI7gaaC6I6r1oq3qcpLoUJyue ecFUzEsKhOIhf2zPZOlkxbS05qtGs4jLtaCn7+43dpUyKxdVlKAqKUzZtHkL h8y5HleIkaj9k6QSNHJLUw7BfciPAvPHiCGzVfE.mD.uWiGHjwii4U0vzSEA vPHQMVaqZFAHljBfACBtw.SFAvPHMNVksmqyTS.L3hapv07Qr.XEKNC.xwr. Thanks to the musician Cinchel of Chicago, Illinois, for helping to prompt this idea. The project has just one instruction: The title of your next single is “Hyperloop.” Now, record that single Deadline: Monday, August 26, 2013, at 11:59pm wherever you are. Length: Your track should have a duration of between 1 and 5 minutes. Information: Please when posting your track on SoundCloud, include a description of your process in planning, composing, and recording it. This description is an essential element of the communicative process inherent in the Disquiet Junto. Title/Tag: Include the term “disquiet0086-hyperloop” in the title of your track, and as a tag for your track. Download: Please consider employing a license that allows for attributed, commerce-free remixing (i.e., a Creative Commons license permitting non-commercial sharing with attribution). Linking: When posting the track, be sure to include this information: More on this 86th Disquiet Junto project, in which a song was made based on its assigned title (“Hyperloop”), at: http://disquiet.com/2013/08/22/disquiet0086-hyperloop/ More on the Tesla Hyperloop at: http://www.teslamotors.com/blog/hyperloop More details on the Disquiet Junto at: http://soundcloud.com/groups/disquiet-junto/ Genre Drone Comment by rizzi Great idea and execution 2013-08-27T07:25:48Z Comment by naotko I remember a transportation makes such noise …. 2013-08-26T07:34:26Z
