Lu Horta Lu Horta São Paulo Singer Songwriter Lu Horta flies solo and accompanied Multiple talents. They are all directed toward music. The singer, composer and body percussionist Lu Horta was part of the creation of the body percussion group Barbatuques. She is also a performer in the group and she is responsible for the vocals. She travels with the group all over Brazil and all around the world performing and teaching vocal and body percussion workshops. She has also released three cds with the group, O Corpo do Som (2002) and O Seguinte e esse (2005), which received the “Premio Tim de Musica” prize in 2006. The group also released the live DVD Corpo do Som in 2007 and Tumpa, their third cd in 2012. Parallel to her work with Barbatuques, she knows how to shine on her own on stage. In 2003 she released her first solo CD called Lu Horta. The repertoire includes her own compositions and new pieces by Chico Cesar and Arnaldo Antunes. “Paraiso Eu”, the third CD was released in 2009. It reflects her maturity as a composer and as an interpreter. It is her most intimate work. In this CD Lu Horta revisits pieces by Arnaldo Antunes, Vitor Ramil, Leandro Bomfim, and Luciano Pessoa in addition to her new partnerships. Lu Horta Is now recording her latest work, A Noiva da Cidade. It’s a multimedia music project that incorporates her research on eletronic and acoustic sound and it will be released on the web by May of 2013. This project has been developed with the musician and producer Marcelo Effori, with whom she has been preforming on stage in Brazil and in the US (they were in New York City in October of 2012). They were also selected to present this work in the most prestigious independent music festival in the US, the SXSW 2013. Lu Horta invites us on an adventure with her gentle voice, nice poetry and her unique pop melody. No one can resist it. “The sound is original and polished.
