Kuala Lumpur
Although no longer a skater, Mac's penchant for thrills and danger has not diminished. It shows in his sets, which are chock full of cheeky beat juggling and turntable tricks, guaranteed to whip the crowd into a frenzy, egged on by his natural ability to interact with his audience.-
Playing it hard and fast, with sharp mixing, he is a proponent of mind bending, techy drum & bass, yet has the ability to seamlessly blend in various musical flavors, from old skool ragga jungle to atmospheric ,chilled out sounds. His versatility is undeniable, being equally comfortable playing vinyl, CDs or using djing software, with Mac at the controls, you can be sure that the crowd is entertained.-
Currently developing his production skills, Mac collaborates with THE WORKS. It's a musical collective established in 2003 with the aim of pushing the boundaries of sound and redefining the parameters of Malaysian urban music. Comprising creative talents from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, The Works is by nature unconstrained by limitations of genre, delving equally into soundscapes derived from drum ‘n’ bass, hip-hop, breakbeats and ethnic arrangements.-
Although this collective is best known for its intense live performances, audiences can expect the release of an album in 2008, a production which will showcase The Works’ characteristically eclectic and innovative approach towards music.-
In recent years, the group has performed alongside several critically acclaimed artists from the US and the UK. During Forces of Nature, a Yogyakarta Quake Aid benefit concert held in 2006, The Works shared the stage with Fort Minor’s DJ Cheapshot.-
Another notable Works gig featured Amit, a DJ/producer from the UK’s Metalheadz label, an organization which is widely recognized as one of the pioneers of drumandbass.-
In addition to these achievements within the DJ and club circuit, The Works has also been able to establish a presence in the Malaysian rock scene. During events for Fly FM and Junk Music Magazine, The Works appeared alongside popular acts such as Love Me Butch and Malokai Gruv.-
The Works’ willingness to experiment with different genres of music has also attracted the attention of the Malaysian arts community. The group has performed at various showcases for establishments such as the arts gallery Galleriiizu, as well as the Multimedia University (MMU).-
In 2007, the Works was also requested to perform during a book launch for a contemporary artist known as Ise, winner of the Australian High Commission’s Visual Arts Residency Award.-
Other organizations such as Nike have also shown an interest in The Works, as the group was invited to take the stage during an Air Force One launch. Furthermore, in December of 2007, The Works is scheduled to appear with the UK’s Charlie Dark, for an event which will be organized by the British Council in Malaysia.-
In future gigs' expect The works to rock crowd with some of ethnic Asian bounded beats.-
Having an intrinsic appreciation of music and being a drum & bass fanatic to the bone, Mac is always looking to push back the boundaries of drum n bass on the local front and bringing the musical form to the masses. With all the qualities in his possession, it is with no exaggeration that Mac is known all over as the Klang Valley’s most prolific and most approachable (LOL) D&B Performer.-
That was the of “08” story of the above ...now its passed and its time to open a new chapter ..............................
