She moved through the Fair by Marianne Lihannah published on 2018-01-22T20:00:34Z A very famous Irish folk song, recorded by many singers, Classical - as well as Folk singers. The words are re-written by Padraic Colum, the author of the famous children's book 'The King of Ireland's Son'. He seems to have reworked the words of an old Ballad called 'I once had a sweetheart' and put them to an ancient Donegal air. "This Irish folk song hasn't much to do with fairs at all. It belongs to a genre known as 'night-visiting songs'. In these songs a parting couple make a pact that should misfortune (death) befall either one, the departed one will return to the other. This is what happens. I've recorded this live in my local church - hence the echo - all the best Marianne Lihannah This song is from mine and Charlotte Poulter's (Harp) CD, 'There is my Love', which is for sale on Itunes, CD Baby, Amazon etc Here is a link for amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=there+is+my+love+lihannah Genre Folk & Singer-Songwriter Comment by Elyssia Beautiful 2019-10-27T11:13:55Z Comment by Musicesse Very beautifully sung :) 2018-06-20T07:10:33Z
