Easy Going by Mark CBH published on 2024-03-14T16:49:34Z This is the first recording of my original song “Easy Going” which was written in March 2024. In terms of the production it’s deliberately arranged to bring back memories of mid-90s Britpop tracks from bands such as Oasis, Cast, Suede, maybe even Manson and the excellent Longpigs. If I’m honest this is a song about the regrets of getting older and how quickly time flies. I’m almost certainly over halfway through my expected lifespan. More and more I get a real sense of the idea that with some things, I can just never go back to them. I look back at my mid-20s and I can NOW see that this was a fantastic period of freedom and pleasure, and that at the time I just did not notice. I guess that’s all part of growing up. The Britpop style of the track is entirely deliberate because that thrilling period of British music directly coincided with my mid-20s and hence the whole song is based around that time, both in subject matter and style. That period of my life took place in Leamington Spa, where I lived at the time. The song was written and recorded at my current home in Penarth, near Cardiff in South Wales. *LYRICS* You had a look, a look you used to wear I used to know just what it meant, I swear But now I’m not so sure I guess we’ll never know Can’t reverse time, can’t go back to then No-thing is gonna bring you back again Life’s not as long as it seems Hold on tight to your vanishing dreams Because Easy going easy going easy gone Easy does it easy did it easy’s done Easy easy oh it’s just way too easy Way too easy Getting gone We thought we’d made it We thought that we’d arrived That white apartment Towered above the night We lived in a movie But we never knew Frank in the bar and Ella at home Gin in the fridge and your folks on the phone Life’s not as long as it seems Hold on tight to your vanishing dreams Because Easy going easy going easy gone Easy does it easy did it easy’s done Easy easy oh it’s just way too easy Way too easy Getting gone Putting off a million things This can wait, and so can that The steady click click click Of a metronome The steady tick tick tick Of your days Easy going easy going easy gone Easy does it easy did it easy’s done Easy easy oh it’s just way too easy Way too easy Getting gone Written and arranged by Mark CBH Lyrics copyright (c) 2024 Mark CBH - Reproduced with permission Genre Indie
