Mike Mc Clintock Robert Michael Mc Clintock 1948-1990 From the united states, Mike Mc Clintock from New York City , where he lived and worked . Mike became know in New York audiences as the lead singer of a New York -based group , The Leisure Units , who were managed by Joe Cocker manager , Michael Lang . The group broke up,however, just as success seemed assured. They opened for the B-52's , and had been offered a national tour with " Squeeze " , they even did a show with the French group "Telephone",but guess this cliché`is a reality in rock and roll : the closer to success a group gets , the more likely it is to break up " Mike took the change philosophically , however , and proceeded to work on the production side of music , co-producing Music for a new society , a John Cale LP , for ZE-Island Records . This led to a position as a staff producer for ZE . He also started as an actor on saturday Night Live , the American variety Tv show , with Eddie Murphy .During this time one of his songs , The invisible Man , was released on the Spin MAGAZINE promotional LP, THE BANDS THAT ATE NEW YORK . It was in early 1987 that Mike started writing songs with Chris Spedding , the noted English guitarist and singer . He met him in Holland in the late 70's when he was opening up for John Cale and Chris was the supporting guitarist for John . They both lived in New York and both have worked for Cale . Prior to his living and working in New York City, Mike also lived in England and Holland when he opened as a solo performer for the likes of John Cale , Bob Marley and the Wailers , Paul Simon , etc.. Mike started his career as a singer songwriter, playing in Pubs and restaurants in Amsterdam and Universities in Northern England ; he then helped to organize a benefit concert for refugees from Chile after the coup d'etat in the early seventies .
