Napolisoundscape Napoli SoundScape Napoli Napolisoundscape is a project born in 2013 in the classroom of Electronic Music at the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella in Naples, inspired by the WSP World SoundScape Project carried out at the end of the 1960 by the Canadian researcher Murray Schafer and other members of the team at Simon Fraser University. At the beginning we just wanted to do audio recordingS in open/public spaces using the ordinary portable recorders - those with built-in microphones - to create compositions of electro-acoustic music, but we got carried away. We wanted to give dignity to the background noise of the city. After a few recordings we noticed that there were many more sounds than we actually thought. To listen carefully requires a lot of concentration and we are almost no longer able to do so. it seems as if we are deaf, continually bombarded by thousands of sounds of all kinds. We will carry out audio recordings in acoustically significant places - streets, squares, subways, trains, buses, markets - and we will record all those sounds in danger of extinction. Napolisoundscape is a project open to all interested parties and our audio files are available to anyone who wants to use them - just contact us!
