NeNyasha is a Christian singer/songwriter with a passion to touch people's hearts. She believes music is a universal language bridging all divides; and every song is an opportunity to share a meaningful message. She loves encouraging people to relate not just through the lyrics, but by connecting with the emotions (vibe) elicited by the message.
NeNyasha was born in Zimbabwe, where she spent her formative years. At age ten she moved with her family to Southern California, where she still resides. NeNyasha, translated "by God's Grace," is a variation of Nyasha (Grace), a name given to her by her grandmother with whom she shares not only the name, but also the love of music. Rest in peace, mbuya (grandmother).
NeNysha was born into a family of musicians. Her father and grandmother were both choir directors in their homeland of Zimbabwe. Although it took her some time to pursue a career in music, NeNyasha has always loved to sing and compose. Her musical and professional history includes orchestra, church choirs, and both solo and group live performances for various events.
NeNyasha gains inspiration from many genres, including gospel, Christian, classical, jazz, rock, hip hop, rap, r&b/soul, international/world, rock, reggae, and country. You name it, NeNyasha probably has albums from that genre in her collection. Her musical tastes are as universal and multicultural as she is.
NeNyasha’s musical influences include CeCe Winans, Yolanda Adams, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Oliver Mutukudzi, Sade, Thomas Mapfumo, Bob Marley, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, and Luther Vandross.
