The Research entails collection of data sets on demographics, ecology and pollution. Sound/Video/imagery documentation of sites including Big Marsh, Indian Ridge Marsh, SteelWorkers Park, Beaubien Woods, SEPA Station 2 and Little Calumet River for a multi-channel sound installation based on field recordings from the area. Data collected is from the US Census, Metropolitan Water Reclamation District, The EPA. This data will be used for a multi-channel sound installation at The Glass Curtain Gallery at Columbia College. I was inspired by a story published on the BBC website on the relation of the Little Calumet River and the history of the migration of African American from the south to the north, housing, labor and environmental activism of Hazel Johnson, a migrant from Louisiana who settled in Chicago during the second migration 1945-1970.
