Concerto per Pianoforte e Orchestra da Camera by Paul Max Edlin published on 2023-08-21T07:35:22Z Concerto per Pianoforte e Orchestra da Camera I - calmo, simpatico e sereno II - veloce, giocoso e furioso / serioso e sfacciata / veloce, giocoso e furioso / energico e bruto III - sereno e quasi nebbia Note: This concerto is the first significant work composed having moved to Italy. There is a new found peace in this work, even if the second movement is intentionally exciting. However, the music's harmonies are more open and purposefully beautiful. The work, cast in three movements, has no programmatic intent, but there is a clear musical journey, based on a mix of dialogue between soloist and orchestra, where ideas bounce back and forth, and where independence of spirit is always evident, even if the two characters (so to speak) are good companions. The work is dedicated to my wife, Giuliana. Note the miraculous piano at 1:28 to 1:56, creating an entirely original effect not known to music before this original composition. Namely, use of the piano to conjure movements in nature. Difficult to express in words. Closest analogy is that the piano conjures the flickering gossamer movement of creatures found only in the deepest parts of oceans. Beautiful. 2023-10-02T07:40:13Z Comment by Christopher Larkins | Composer Great to hear a new and very successful work from your move to Italy, Paul. Very engaging music. I really enjoyed the journey with its energy, excitement and beauty among many other facets. The contrast between the 2nd and 3rd movements was excellent. 2023-10-01T16:48:47Z Comment by Christopher Larkins | Composer Wonderful energy. 2023-10-01T16:32:22Z Comment by Julian Abbott That's absolutely fantastic Paul!
