7-Day Shift by Phil Julian published on 2012-09-28T16:19:53Z A generative software patch was programmed to produce short pieces of audio over the period of seven days. A broad framework was set up which suggested ranges of pitch and duration that could be used. The durations selected by the computer were typically quite short; a few seconds only up to two or three minutes in length per day. The recordings made over the seven day period were then compiled and overlaid onto a realtime binaural field recording lasting exactly seven minutes providing a compressed framework for the entire piece. Headphone listening suggested due to binaural content. Audio contribution to the “Chopped & Stretched” exhibition held at the Drift Station Gallery, Nebraska Sept 2 – Oct 1, 2011. Sounds at the extremes of duration, curated by Angeles Cossio & Jeff Thompson. http://www.driftstation.org/ Genre Field Recording / Drone Comment by christopherjohnweaver This bit startled me when listening on headphones!
