553. Why, Oh Why by Ronnie Patel published on 2022-08-08T18:53:30Z Yet another expression of the enigma of wars and bloodshed. Why, Oh Why Why is this flower so sad, Why do the dewdrops on Its petals seem like teardrops Of the sky? Why, oh why Does the sky cry? Why are The wingtips of the butterfly So red, as it supped on the Flower, sucked the nectar That from its roots extruded? For buried deep, ages deep, Beneath the flowerbed Are the warriors and their Battlefields soaked in blood Uselessly shed, reeking Of wars of the holy books That have lied about the Divine intent to glorify the Deeds of evil men of dread; I know now why the flower’s sad, The dewdrops like teardrops Of the sky, the tinted red of The butterfly -- all that need Never have been, but will be Again, to ask: why, oh why?
