Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint opens the Spring season by welcoming Mariner + Domingo back to the label for a new single. In what has been a fruitful partnership, the last year saw the US duo rise through the landscape of progressive and organic house. On the strength of 2020 releases via Balkan Connection, RYNTH, The Purr and Stellar Fountain, Mariner + Domingo began the new year with their latest Sound Avenue vehicle ‘Move On’. Highlighting the release was the Lee Burridge supported ‘Another Life’ which quicky rose to the top of the duo’s best seller’s chart. Now following an EP and remix for Proton’s Particles imprint, Mariner + Domingo return to their comfortable home of Sound Avenue with ‘EdenWilde’, alongside a remix from Kamilo Sanclemente.
Already beloved for their emotive creations, that sentiment will only grow with the highly memorable ‘EdenWilde’. From warm, rhythmic beginnings comes redolent themes and forest sonics. It’s an amalgamation of live, free flowing organics which proves most captivating, touching the listener with moments of hope and reflection, as a bed of dulcet beats and dusty percussion translates that message to the dance floor. Gentle flutters build and atmospheres emerge into the break where the main themes become fully realized, as piano stabs intertwine with glowing tones and cascading arps for the creation’s defining moment. Meanwhile the ‘Elk Mix’ delivers a different perspective, with a lazier groove and open framework setting the stage for a sparser yet equally magical musical interlude.
Making his label debut and providing the lone interpretation of ‘EdenWilde’ is Kamilo Sanclemente. Long regarded as one of Colombia’s foremost progressive house talents, the Cali resident has found a home on Anjunadeep, Replug and The Soundgarden, while earning continued support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Cid Inc. Now following chart topping EP’s for Freegrant Music, Proton and Songspire, Kamilo makes his long overdue Sound Avenue debut with a gorgeous rendition of ‘EdenWilde’. Always a creative remixer, the Cali resident deconstructs the main elements into something decidedly more progressive minded, for what sits as an ideal complement to its predecessors. Atop a warm, punchy foundation comes muted melodic fragments and delicate percussion, resulting in a unique contrast of character, groove and musicality. Free and flowing, the narrative continues to evolve across the main break, elegantly peaking, before smoothly segueing into a finale of colourful keys. A stunning remix from Kamilo who makes a superb label debut here, while Mariner + Domingo continue to amaze with their third and arguably best Sound Avenue project to date.
