We continue to introduce you to interesting and relevant artists in the exploration of unusual musical landscapes.
Today we have Alpha Visitor from Spain with his amazing and wonderful live set, currently based in Berlin and hiding under the pseudonyms such as Cr∆b nebula, CUCA NEGRA, Ivan Istochnikov, Iván Zapico, Planet∆ry.
Which artists has influenced you the most?
- All the music styles I've been listening to over the years like for example punk, shoegaze, avant garde, minimal wave, etc has influenced me in some way in my different projects even if they are not directly related with my sound. But of course I guess I've always had favourite artists, some of them are Mika Vainio, Esplendor Geometrico, Xenakis, Coil, warp classics like Autechre, BoC, AFX, Two lone swordsmen, Gerlald Donald's thousand projects like Japanese Telecom, Arpanet, Black Replica, Heinrich Mueller.
What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?
- My next releases are going to be a 12" on a very cool label from Berlin. This as Cuca Negra, my more techno and noise oriented project. As Alpha Visitor I will release a digital LP on my label Pagan Shelter. From this live act only one track has been released so the others are looking for a good place :)
Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?
- I tend to listen to a lot of techno and experimental artists, some are Emptyset, Svreca, Labour, SHXCXCHCHCXSH, Kerridge and Hospital Productions or L.I.E.S. Records.
Although I have been listening to electro for many years my Alpha Visitor project is relatively new. I listen to current artists that I love and inspire me like Jensen Interceptor, Animistic Beliefs, DJ Stingray or labels like Solar One, Stilleben and WéMè but I think where I really draw inspiration from is from artists that I used to listen to many years ago and now I'm getting it back; Rother, Boris Divider, Le Car, Ersatz Audio, Modern Love, Interdimensional Transmissions or Bunker labels,
also bleep classics like B12 or LFO or even Gigolo artists like Dj Naughty.
What inspires you now to create music?
- I don't need a special inspiration to make music, for me it's basically a need, it's something healing, every day I have the need to spit out some rhythms, noises or melodies.
What set-up do you use when creating music?
- Over time I've had different setups, now I try to keep it simple, many songs I do with just ableton and software like arturia or NI synths. As hardware I am using korg minilogue, roland Se-02, digaitakt/digitone, pedals like Holy stain or T-resonator, sometimes I use field recordings, Soma Lyra too, depends on the day.
