Translocation by Tarabud published on 2021-08-26T22:22:04Z Original poem by Tarabud Translocation Things were neat and organized, but boring Now the computer is on the ironing board And the dining table is in front of the fireplace. Well, that seems perfectly romantic you say… But it’s only to makes room for the cardboard. The Texas heat chases us around the house, and Our dreams are sweeter in the guest room, but Now the faucet is dismantled and the dirty dishes stray, And our delicate lives are thrown into the blender Awakening all our senses like a craft cocktail. In the morning we empty the closets into the boxes. Packing our ambitions with the leather and scissors The drawers with bits and bobs pilled up like the years Fill every inch of new space we imagine Then bubble wrap every decision to mint it for good measure We jettison the chaos for the hope of two Mimosas Precariously balanced on the ottomans in the living room. We reach for each lampshade of that new life, A shift from the laundry in the hallway, a lift out of the attic with the spiders and hornet's nest on the eves. We used to nap on the cushions in the bay window Now the palm is in the bathtub and the figs line the empty bookshelves making room for another season Another state with the goldilocks climate. A place we can Hang our clothes out to dry and sip on wine on the lawn. Genre Poetry Comment by Sentineldream :) 2021-09-02T15:50:52Z
