The Bet The Bet Athens The Bet were brought together in July 2010. Using their distinctive sound as a weapon of choice, they create music that combines rhythms and melodies by Motown Soul/R n B together with the sound textures of Blues-Rock and Psychedelia from the early 70’s. The name of the genre: Power Soul. Since November 2010, the Bet made various appearances in live stages in Athens, capturing the best out of the music lover’s impressions. In January 2011 they got into the studio and recorded a live sample of their work, to capture the vividness, power and dynamic of their live appearances. The outcome was an unreleased recording including the very successful version of Gil Scott Heron’s “Who’ll pay reparations” which gained airplay on the #1 radio station in Greece “En Lefko” and various radio stations all over Greece. The Bet continued through 2011 with their live performances, including their first television appearance on the popular National TV program “Esctv”. From early 2012 they are preparing their first studio album, following the release of their first EP “In Motion” on Restless Wind [GR] (24th July, 2012). The album will be produced in the studio by NTEIBINT who recently released an EP on Bang Gang 12’’ [AU] and on the cutting edge record label Kitsuné [FR].
