London
Height: 1.78m.
Born in late '69 in South London. I first picked up the guitar in 1981 - my last year of primary school, and the start of the New Romantic Synth boom. I spent my formative years in Lee Green and my teenage years in Blackheath/Greenwich.
After laying dormant, I got back into the guitar when I was a student, and discovered that I could play 'Sympathy For The Devil' by ear, along with The Velvets and Syd Barrett.
Dabbled in music journalism in the early-to-mid 90s. Got back into it late ‘17. I review bands/solo artistes I meet and I like on the open-mic circuit plus.
Stuck with the guitar in late 07/early 08, and started gigging regularly at the certifiable age of 40 and 3 weeks. Have been doing that since.
My fave bands and influences are: The Beatles, The Stones, The Who, The Stooges, The MC5, Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band, Pere Ubu, The Byrds, Love, The Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, The Clash, Can, Husker Du and The Seeds.
My fave solo artistes are: David Bowie, Neil Young, Scott Walker, Jimi Hendrix, Tim Buckley, Bob Dylan, Syd Barrett, Laura Nyro, Nick Drake, Jeff Buckley, Tom Waits, David Sylvian, John Coltrane, Howlin’ Wolf, Pharaoh Sanders, Gram Parsons, Miles Davis and Robert Johnson.
My style is Delta Blues coupled with the lyrical nuances of Barrett, Bolan, Bowie and Robert Smith.
My main interests, outside of music, are: reading, collecting comics, watching
movies and Doctor Who.
I received a late diagnose of mild Aspergers Syndrome in 2012. I have undergone CBT to understand my condition along with learning all about 'Mindfulness'. I have found that having Aspergers - even though it is classed as a disability - has been beneficial for performing and writing songs. I have conducted presentations in my workplace in order to educate people the best way that I can about it.
