However, it now is an opportunity for Marvel to show cultural appreciation with this character. Most of the vocal members complaining have no knowledge on the topic or just complain to complain but never want to do any action. Every one of my friends of Asian decent I have had this dialogue with don't have an opinion. They just don't want to have that stereotype of all being super smart and they all know martial arts. Also, you probably heard by now Shang Chi is going to be in the Iron Fist show. Love the show! Also, Jordan offer still stands to help out with the show. 2016-03-09T14:29:39Z Comment by Steven Kendrick 4 Lets talk about cultural appropriation. As a BLERD, who teaches classes on social justices and have had many dialogues with students all the time. I had this discussion with my students about this casting and other things comic related with race. This term of “cultural appropriation” is always thrown around and sometimes it has some valid points. If a person that is of that culture is offended by whatever has happened that is there experience. However, in this case every person I’ve seen say Iron fist casting is cultural appropriation hasn't been an Asian person. In this case with Iron Fist it’s a pointless argument or argument that will go in complete circles. It’s a complete catch 22. If they would of cast an Asian man it would of be cries of that’s racism or it’s stereotypical. Casting a white man it’s a cultural appropriation or a white came to save all the colored folk. 2016-03-09T14:29:20Z Comment by Ulrick McFadden I don't know if you guys are gonna see this, but how did you guys feel when Michael B. Jordan was casted as Human Torch? There was a lot of backlash for that 2016-03-08T04:24:45Z Comment by RJ74 Just finished the podcast. Great show. Keep it up. You are onto something special. In reference to Iron Fist, there have been many Iron Fists throughout history, of many cultures and ethnicities. This was added to the mythos during the acclaimed run of Matt Fraction and David Aja. 2016-03-07T23:57:56Z
